Travel Tuesday: Chichen Itza

chi

Aw this month, it’s all about Mexico, Mayan Mexico to be exact!  I was able to visit a couple of these places and I do so long to return. Anyway here’s this week’s spot Chichen Itza.

Mayan ruins located in Yucatan Mexico that are the most visited Mayan vestiges on the peninsula. Eighteen structures have been restored over the years. Pyramid Kukulcan is the tallest of them and allows a view from the top of all Chichen Itza. During the Spring and Fall equinoxes, (March 21 & Sept 21) the setting sun creates shadows down the steps of the pyramid that resemble a snake descending. This is a popular event to see and usually draws big crowds.

If you get a chance, make it down to Mexico way. If you live in Texas, especially close the border, you REALLY have no excuse!  Have a good one.
